Pet SuitesWhat is Canine HydroTherapy?

The benefits of swimming and hydrotherapy on humans - and even race horses - are well documented. Canine HydroTherapy is a form of physical therapy for dogs, conducted in a specially designed pool. The temperature of the water is calculated to the normal temperature a dog’s body: approx. 100-102 degrees Fahrenheit. Warm water therapy is especially advantageous because it removes stress and weight from the joints, discs and other afflicted areas. Simultaneously the muscles can relax and enjoy full range of motion in our
full-size 19 x 8 foot pool.
Canine HydroTherapy is used in the treatment of chronic or degenerative conditions, such as degenerative joints, discs, arthritis, dysplasia, as well as pre-operative conditioning, post-operative recovery; rehabilitation from physical or emotional trauma. It is an excellent form of weightless exercise for large, extra-large, geriatric, or obese dogs who suffer most from hip and joint problems.
Because of water's increased resistance to movement, a 10 minute swim is equivalent to a 10 mile run - but without the disadvantage and stress or gravity, or impact on joints and bones. Combined with underwater massage, physical therapy and Reiki (energy work) it creates an ideal environment for restoration and healing.
